Hay Ride Layout

30 Jul

I have been making a ton of layouts lately, which I am LOVING!
I am too lazy to print new photos though, so you get to see lots of layouts with pictures from 2012. Because I have those printed.
Anyway, it’s hard to be too upset when you get to see some super cute little kiddo faces, so there’s that.
Here’s a layout using more of that amazing rainbow paper by Paige Evans that I love so much:

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Paige Evans; Letter Stickers: American Crafts
This layout took me no time at all to make, and I love the simple design!
I will be sharing more layouts from this day with The Girlio, so stay tuned for those over the next few weeks. Have a great day!

Book Review-The Number of Love

28 Jul

The Number of Love was written by Roseanna M. White and is the first book in the Codebreakers series.
Summary: Margot De Wilde has a unique mind for numbers, making her perfect at her job-cracking codes and deciphering intercepted German telegrams for the English military.
But when life takes a devastating turn, her fascination with numbers might not be enough to sustain her outside her work. Can she find a way to relate to the real world-and still solve a German mystery that could save those she cares about?
My Thoughts: I always enjoy Roseanna White’s ability to interweave actual historical events within intricate plot lines that grab my attention and just don’t let go-making her one of my all-time favorite authors.
This book was no exception. The storyline was fascinating, the characters were flawed and yet so relatable, and I was completely engaged.
I am looking forward to the next one, and I would definitely recommend this book!
Note: This book does contain characters from the Shadows Over England series, but it is not necessary to have read those books to enjoy this one.
As always, I would like to thank Bethany House for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Book Review-Fragments of Fear

27 Jul

Fragments of Fear is a modern-day novel written by Carrie Stuart Parks.
Summary: Evelyn McTavish thought her life was finally getting on track. She had lost weight, figured out a career, and was even getting married. Until her fiancé committed suicide.
Evelyn is devastated by this turn of events. Numbly living day by day, she stumbles through life until she receives a strange phone call. A phone call that changes her world forever, and begins to unravel a mystery so cunning, so deceitful, so deadly, she might not make it out alive.
My Thoughts: I liked this book,. There were so many moving parts and pieces to this story, yet the author brought it all seamlessly together to create a mystery that unfolded as the pages were read. There were interesting characters, tons of action, and a really interesting plot line-different from anything I have previously read. I really enjoyed this book, and would definitely read it again. I highly recommend it!
I would like to thank Thomas Nelson for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. Thank you!
