Card Monday-Easter Cards

24 Apr

My goodness-time has really been getting away from me!  Seems that always happens this time of year as we finish up homeschooling, public school, and I order and prep materials for the next homeschool year.  Whew!
Anyway, I am just now sharing the fun Easter cards I made for the kiddos.  I decided to make some fun mini shaker cards, and my goodness did it take me FOREVER to figure out how to make them work!
I used the Lawn Fawn How You Bean stamp set and add-on, and definitely learned through trial and error on these.
First, the edges are so thin, foam tape really was just too finicky for me.  Then, I remembered (after fiddling for quite a while) that I purchased some extra thick foam for just this purpose!
After die cutting the frame out of foam, I found that worked SO much better, but unfortunately my redline tape was delayed for almost a month by Amazon, so I was forced to use my regular adhesive, which just wasn’t the best choice as pieces tended to stick in between the layers.
Also, I die cut some of the jelly beans out of paper, and they didn’t shake well AT ALL.  I only put them in the pink one, and skipped them for the rest.  The sequins worked much better.
After the cards were finally all assembled, I stamped a sentiment on the inside of each mini card using a combination of How You Bean and Happy, Happy, Happy.
I ended up making everything work, but one can only hope I will have an easier time of it if I attempt something similar in the future!
Supplies: Dies and Stamps: Lawn Fawn; Markers: Sharpies, Spectrum Noir; Sequins: Darice, Studio Calico; Page Protector: Project Life by Becky Higgins; Other: Wink of Stella

Lawn Fawn Part 4

11 Apr

Sheepish grin.  Yes, another set of Lawn Fawn has arrived at my house.  🙂
This will be the last for a while, but I am very excited to play with the new goodies-especially that jelly bean jar die-going to make some cute Easter cards with that one!

So, this is what it looks like outside today:
In honor of that, I thought I would show you my new spring wreath.  Something should feel like spring, right?  🙂

I had been wanting a spring wreath for a while now (I have them for Valentines, fall, and Christmas) but hadn’t been able to find something I really liked.

Fortunately, I have a very crafty mom who is good at making wreaths.  🙂

After much searching on Pinterest, I kind of had an idea of what I wanted/didn’t want, so we headed off to Michaels for their 50% off flower sale.

I picked out what I liked, my wonderful mom put it together, and here is the result:
The supplies were minimal-a green wreath, one bunch of pink flowers, 2 yellow flower/glittery egg picks (separated), and one cute duck.

Love the end results, and the best part is that nothing is wired in, so we could easily turn it into a summery wreath with some different flowers!

Thanks mom, and I guess it’s time to go shoveling?  🙂

Card Monday

3 Apr

I have another Lawn Fawn card for you today-got to use all those new goodies, you know!  🙂

Supplies:  Patterned Paper: Lawn Fawn, Sizzix (black); Stamps and Dies: Lawn Fawn; Markers: Sharpies, Spectrum Noir, Copic, Wink of Stella; Other: Cloud Punch: Fiskars

For this birthday card, I used the road die with the same Sizzix paper I used on my space card a few weeks back-thought it looked like a bike path to me.  I used a Stitched Hillsides border die to cut my grass from the Rainbow Plaid 6×6 paper pack, and paper from the Watercolor Wishes 6×6 pad for my sky.

I used images from Bicycle for You, and made my own party sign using just the pole part of the flag banner, and adding a little handwritten sign on top.  I stamped a sentiment from Elfie Selfie on the road.

I punched my cloud, and then die cut everything with my stitched rectangle dies so that everything had matching stitching.  I added Wink of Stella to the dress, shoes, wheels, and balloons.  And then finally, I stamped the inside with sentiments from the Happy, Happy, Happy stamp set.

Hope you enjoyed looking at this card-I sure had fun making it, and it turned out just how I imagined, which is always fun.  🙂

Oh, and funny story-I showed this card to my three year old and he asked “Where is the pull tab?”  He might be a little spoiled with the interactive cards.  🙂

I am entering this card into the Simon Says Anything Goes challenge:
