Do It Yourself Embellishments!

29 Jun

The last couple of weeks I have been sharing my crafty hauls, so today I am going to show you one of the projects I made with those goodies!

I am planning on scrapbooking Christmas of 2020 this weekend, and I really wanted to make my own Project Life cards and embellishments using the Simple Stories Winter Cottage 6×8 paper pad, sticker pad, and Elle’s Studio Christmas sentiment stamps.

I had SO much fun making these. It was really difficult to stop. I even made two Christmas cards (I’ll wait to share those until closer to Christmas.) So fun.

Here is what I ended up with:

Supplies: Paper, Stickers: Simple Stories; Enamel Dots: Echo Park; Other: Punches

I loved making these, and am sure I will make more in the future-although I probably won’t need Christmas ones for a while! 🙂

Card Monday

28 Jun

Today I wanted to share the Father’s Day card I made for Hubby:

Supplies: Card Stock: American Crafts (white, gray, dark gray), MFT (red); Stamp: MFT; Dies: MFT (shark, waves), Lawn Fawn (letters, border); Stencil: MFT; Ink: Tim Holtz Distress, Other: Black Card Stock, Vellum

I masked the stamped sentiment to remove the word birthday, and then die cut “Daddy” to replace it.

I hadn’t used vellum in a while, so I forgot about hiding my adhesive, but otherwise, I like how it turned out.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Book Review-Fly Home to Me

27 Jun

Fly Home to Me is a contemporary military romance written by Chalon Linton. It is book two in the Flying in Love series, but it is not necessary to have read book one in order to enjoy this one.

Summary: Piper Holland is determined to prove herself at work-and stay as far away from relationships as possible.

But when she crosses paths with handsome fighter pilot Gabriel Orsini, she can’t help but be drawn to his charm and selflessness.

Will Piper’s traumatic past ruin the relationship, or will she finally be able to open her heart to love again?

My Thoughts: I liked this book. It is a sweet romance with a military flair, and has wonderful characters that draw you in from the get go. The story is well-written, romantic, and a fun and easy read.

I really enjoyed reading it, and would definitely recommend it-especially to anyone looking for a light and clean romance.

*Please note: This book will be released on July 2, 2021.

Book Review-The Moon Speaks

26 Jun

The Moon Speaks is a children’s picture book by Jason G. Duesing.

Summary: This board book is designed to show small children the beauty of God’s creation through charming illustrations, scripture, and more.

My Thoughts: Personally, this is not a book I would want to read over and over as the words didn’t really grab me. I think I would just have preferred the scriptures to be honest.

BUT, I will say the artwork is absolutely gorgeous, and if you are looking for a book to introduce little ones to the fact that God created the earth and the beauty that surrounds us, this might be a good choice for you. It would make a nice present as well.
