Definitely Maybe Not A Detective is a contemporary novel written by Sarah Fox.
Summary: Emersyn Gray’s life is a dumpster fire.
She’s just lost her job. Again.
Her ex-boyfriend stole her life savings, and in a desperate attempt to scare him into giving back her money, she’s horribly embarrassed herself at the local country club-in front of a very cute stranger, nonetheless.
She has to get it together…for the sake of the precious niece she has been raising since her brother’s death.
But getting involved with solving a murder is not exactly how to get her life back on track……or is it?
My Thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed this book! There are great characters, a unique and interesting plot, a good mystery, and plenty of hijinks along the way. It was such a fun read.
I love the friendships and community that are built around Emersyn, how she has constant hilarious mishaps, and how she and her friends end up working together to solve the murder. I really enjoyed the romance as well.
Even though this book is set in a city, the fact that it takes place mostly in a retirement community really allowed the author to build in plenty of quirky characters like what you would get with a small-town cozy mystery. Even the building itself acts as a character with lots of hidden surprises.
I hope the author makes this a series, because it was definitely a book I didn’t want to end, and there is so much potential for more stories!
I highly recommend this book-it’s definitely one worth buying, which is the highest compliment I can pay a book.
I would like to thank Ballantine for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!
