The Little Drummer Girl is a children’s book written by Sheila Walsh.
Summary: Isabella has always wanted to be the angel in the town’s Christmas play.
She can’t wait to be a star!
But when things don’t turn out the way she expects, will she realize who Christmas is really all about?
My Thoughts: This book is OK. It has a good message about dealing with disappointment and learning about Christmas.
The bright, painterly illustrations are also perfect for smaller children.
But, I am not a fan of this type of rhyme scheme, and it wasn’t a book I would want to read again and again. This was more of a one-time read for me.
I would like to thank Baker Books for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you.
*Please note: this book will be released on November 4, 2025.
Book Review-The Little Drummer Girl
2 NovBook Review-The Christmas Reboot
1 NovThe Christmas Reboot is a romantic novella written by Leah Busboom. This is book five in the Letters to Mrs. Claus series, but all of the books do standalone and are written by different authors.
Summary: Tucker and Ally met on the set of their TV show Malibu Shores five years ago. Both had feelings for each other, but Tucker’s fake relationship drummed up by the show’s publicity kept them apart.
Now the show is back for a Christmas reboot. Can a little Christmas magic bring them together this time around?
My Thoughts: I have mixed feelings about this book. I really liked the unique premise, and was enjoying reading it until about halfway through, but then it was like the book went on super speed. Everything happened at once and then the book was over.
I understand it’s a novella, and not meant to be very in-depth, but there was barely time for any real character development, or time for the main characters to get to know each other as people.
They went from co-workers to romance SUPER fast-especially for not having even seen each other for several years.
I guess I was a bit disappointed with the overall development of this one. If it had been fleshed out into a full-length novel, I think I would have really enjoyed it. I would have liked to get to know the characters more, there would have been more time for mischief from the backstabbing co-worker, and the romance would have had more time to develop.
I guess I am saying I liked it but needed more. 🙂
The book still is a fun Christmas read though, and if you are just looking for a holiday happily-ever-after, this could be right up your alley.
I would like to thank Leah for including me on her ARC team in exchange for receiving a free digital copy of this book. Thank you!
November/December 2025 Mix It Up Challenge Blog
1 NovIt’s time for a new Mix It Up Blog challenge!
Our challenge for November/December is: Anything Goes + Clean and Simple.
I went super simple with this one, as I think that little monster is so cute and deserves to be the star of this project. 🙂
I used one cut apart image, and cut apart an old card base as well for the blue layer.
Here is my card:
Supplies: Patterned Paper, Card Base: Doodlebug Design
I used the following card stock color from CutCardStock.com: Lessebo Pitch Black
I really enjoyed making this card and I hope it inspires you to join us for the new challenge at the Mix It Up Challenge Blog. I can’t wait to see what you create!
