This is post three in my series sharing what we will be studying during the 2024-2025 school year.
Today is Science!
My favorite curriculum for science has always been Sonlight.
It has worked so well for us, and I love how there are so many interesting books.
The Little Guy is a lot farther along in science than the other kids were at his age, so we reached a level I hadn’t done before with any of the kids-Sonlight H.
I wasn’t sure if he would love it, so I just purchased a few of the books he thought looked interesting, and we are going to read through them and do the activities in the books.
Here are the books he picked:
We have several unit studies from The Good and the Beautiful, as well as copious amounts of science experiment books, etc. so we will probably be digging into those as well.
He will also be completing Experience Astronomy by Journey Homeschool Academy. I reviewed this course for the Homeschool Review Crew a few years back, and you can find that review here.
The Boy completed it, and I was impressed. It really is a fun and interesting course. Fortunately, it is an online course too, and is completely re-usable, so The Little Guy will get to do it this year.
AND, we will be starting a program at AeroEducate for kids interested in flying airplanes. It’s totally free, and students learn the basics of flying, the science behind it, and earn online badges for completing lessons and activities. The Little Guy got to fly in a small airplane this summer with the program, and he really enjoyed it-they even let him fly the plane for a few minutes-so fun!
Science really is this guy’s favorite subject, so I love that he has tons of opportunities to delve into different topics this year.
We’ll see how far we get with all of these!
Sonlight doesn’t really have great options for high school science in my opinion, but fortunately I found some curriculum I absolutely love from Westfield Studios.
The Boy will be doing General Science 101:
The Girlio will be finishing Physics 101:
This will be our third year using this series, and the whole family enjoys them.
The videos are informative and impart the information in a fun and interesting way.
AND everything is re-usable which I love.
