August Books

7 Sep

Another month is gone, and today I am sharing the books I read in August.

As a reminder, here are my reading goals for 2021:
1. Read 221 books. This includes the books I read to the kids, audiobooks, and anything I read for myself.
2. Read at least one (new to me) classic. DONE!
3. Read at least four self-help/education books. DONE!

This month I thought I might actually reach my year goal already. Crazy, right?

Sadly, I am in the middle of a ridiculous number of books I have yet to finish (at least eighteen that I can think of), so not quite there yet. Yes, I know that number is ridiculous. To be fair though, seven of them are ones I am reading to kids for school. This is what I am telling myself so it doesn’t seem SO bad. 🙂

August was filled with recommended books from Read Aloud Revival, a stack of books we always read as we head back to school, as well as another round of How to Train Your Dragon-this time with Hubby. I am rarely interested in re-reading books so soon, but this series is fantastic, and we really have been enjoying them.

Here is what I read in August:

I read fourteen books to the kids, and I read (or listened to) nine books just for me. I also read fifteen picture books to myself for review.

For the year, I have now read seventy-seven books to the kids and seventy-eight books just for me. I’ve also read (or listened to) sixty-one picture books to myself for review. That’s 216 books so far, so only five more books to reach my goal!

For a favorite this month……

One Little Bag: An Amazing Journey: Cole, Henry, Cole, Henry: 9781338359978: Amazon.com: Books

I loved the story line, I love that it is wordless, and I love that there is just so much to look at in the pictures! It really is a great book.

Well, that’s it for this month. I will have another book post the first Tuesday in October!
