May Books

1 Jun

Another month is gone, and today I am sharing the books I read in May.

As a reminder, here are my reading goals for 2021:
1. Read 221 books. This includes the books I read to the kids, audiobooks, and anything I read for myself.
2. Read at least one (new to me) classic. DONE!
3. Read at least four self-help/education books.

I read and listened to quite a few really good books this month! I am enjoying audio books SO much these days, my review books have been falling a bit to the wayside, but there you go-my TBR pile is always going to be big. πŸ™‚

Here is what I read in May:
1. How to Break a Dragon’s Heart by Cressida Cowell (audio)-good
2. How to Steal a Dragon’s Sword by Cressida Cowell (audio)-I think this is my favorite-so much action and adventure!
3. Mr. Lemoncello’s All-Star Breakout Game by Chris Grabenstein (audio)-very good!
4. Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes (audio)-very sweet. Meryl Streep is one of my favorite narrators for kid books.
5. If I Built a Car by Chris Van Dusen-very fun
6. The Circus Ship by Chris Van Dusen-one of my favorites
7. RACSO and the RATS of NIMH by Jane Leslie Conly-I read this aloud to The Little Guy and it was fantastic-better than the first book!
8. Percy Jackson and the Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan (audio)-good-better than the last one, but still not my favorite series
9. The Chase by Lisa Harris-good!
10. Mr. Lemoncello and the Titanium Ticket by Chris Grabenstein (audio)-very good
11. The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman (audio)-just OK
12. Mel Fell by Corey R. Tabor-so cute and funny!
13. Let It Be Me by Becky Wade-very good
14. How to Seize a Dragon’s Jewel by Cressida Cowell (audio)-excellent
15. The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes (audio)-good book to remind kids about the affects of bullying
16. Pinkalicous Merry Pinkmas by Victoria Kann
17. Wubbzy’s Doodleberry Day by Jill Cozza-Turner
18. Doris the Bookasaurus by Diana Murray
19. The Gingerbread Cookie Mystery by Judy Katschke
20. Pinkalicious Pink or Treat by Victoria Kann
21. How to Betray a Dragon’s Hero by Cressida Cowell (audio)-good

I read nine books to the kids, and I read (or listened to) nine books just for me. I also read (or listened to) three picture books to myself for review.

For the year, I have now read fifty-four books to the kids and forty-four novels just for me. I’ve also read (or listened to) twenty picture books to myself for review. That’s 118 books so far this year, which is over halfway to my goal-yay!

For a favorite this month……

How to Train Your Dragon: How to Steal a Dragon's Sword (How to Train Your Dragon, 9): Cowell, Cressida: 9780316205702: Amazon.com: Books

This book was so exciting, and is definitely my favorite of the series so far.

Well, that’s it for this month. I will have another book post the first Tuesday in July!
