Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.
We recently received the book C.S. Lewis: Master Storyteller for review. This book is part of the Christian Heroes Then and Now series produced by YWAM Publishing, and written by Janet and Geoff Benge.
We love the biographies from YWAM, and have thoroughly enjoyed the books we have received previously. You can check out my past reviews here: George Washington: True Patriot, and Daniel Boone: Frontiersman.
In fact, this is the review I look forward to the most with the Homeschool Review Crew every year. These are fascinating reads, and we always learn so much interesting history too!
This time we chose C.S. Lewis because we are big fans of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and I thought this would be a great way for us to learn more about the author.
We used this softcover biography as a read aloud during our school time. The book is well-written, and we really enjoyed learning more about C.S. Lewis’ life. There were so many things I never knew about him-including how he went from being an atheist to a Christian (J.R.R. Tolkien played a big part), and how he fought during World War I. We also enjoyed reading about the backstories behind his various books and how they came to be. I now have several more books added to my to-read list!
YWAM has also created an optional Unit Study Curriculum Guide that corresponds with the book. This digital unit study is filled with chapter questions, creative writing, craft projects, and more. We chose to use the book as a read aloud and incorporate it into what we were already doing, but you could very easily use the book and guide AS your history curriculum, which is amazing.
C.S. Lewis: Master Storyteller was an excellent addition to our read alouds this year, and we will definitely be incorporating more biographies from YWAM Publishing into our future studies-they are excellent, and I highly recommend them!
Check out YWAM Publishing to learn more about all of the great materials they publish!
