A Book Review-A Lady Unrivaled

18 Oct

A Lady Unrivaled is the third book in the Ladies of the Manor series by Roseanna M. White.  It takes place in the early 1900s and continues the story of the Fire Eyes-a very rare set of red diamonds.
Lady Ella Myerston has heard stories from her friends and family about the diamonds, and is determined to find out as much as possible about them-where they are, where they came from, and how to protect her family from those that will do anything to steal them.
Lord James Cayton is doing his best to make up for past mistakes and raise his small daughter, but soon he is drawn against his will into an intricate scheme to seize the jewels.
Will Lady Ella be able to protect her family, and can Lord James ever forgive himself for the mistakes of his past?  And will he be able to save those he cares about most without repeating those same mistakes?
My thoughts: I really liked this book.  It is my favorite out of the three books, and I really enjoyed the addition of Kira Belova to the cast of characters.  The Russian culture and influence added a lot of depth to the plot line.  The richness of the character development really left me wondering what the characters were going to do, and added to the suspense of the story.  Definitely a well-written and fun read-especially if you enjoy Downton Abbey-type stories.  This is not a series you can start in the middle however, and I highly recommend starting with book one if you don’t want to get confused!
Thank you to Bethany House for providing me with a free copy to read-I enjoyed it!
