So Long 2012!

5 Jan

Well, another year is gone!  Crazy, isn’t it?

I set several goals for 2012, and for the most part, I did pretty good!

Make at least 100 cards, 50 layouts/PL pages, and 25 misc. paper projects-check.
Lift Pinterest at least 12 times-check.
Made new Valentine’s decor-check.
Use scrappy supplies for a themed party-check.

I didn’t submit very many things for publishing, and therefore didn’t get published in a paper magazine or book (still want to accomplish this some day!), but I did have two guest designing gigs for fortheluvofart.com and my LSS (I haven’t shown projects here yet for my LSS as they haven’t been released yet at the store) and finished up a DT term for Practical Scrappers-all fun unexpected things that I enjoyed!

I still want to learn how to make new amigurumi, learn how to sew again, use vinyl in a project, and look into selling my crafts.  I figure the first two are going to be easier to accomplish this year as my mom now lives here and I need her help!  🙂

As far as other goals in 2012, I met my reading goal, helped The Girlio reach HER reading goal, tried at least 12 new recipes (thank you Pinterest!), did tons of outings with the kids, cleaned up some old magazines, and created a bedroom for The Weebo by moving my craft room downstairs.  Whew!

I met 4 out of 7 of my Fitbit goals, but didn’t climb The Incline (famous landmark with lots of stairs built into a mountain.)  I also did NOT meet my weight goal.  Sigh.

Some of the goals I did not complete made it onto 2013’s list, I added some new, and some goals are the same as last year’s (want to keep reading, crafting, etc.)

A few new ones include finishing a lot of the online classes I started last year, and trying a “12 Materials” list-which is basically making something with a different material every month.  I got the idea from Elise Blaha, and it sounded like fun!  Some of the materials I want to try are: vinyl, yarn, heat transfer, fabric, making my own stickers, using salt dough or clay, making shaped crayons, faux seals, using pinecones, paint, and re-introducing myself into creating things digitally-either more hybrid projects, all-digital pages, or even making my own digital journaling cards.  This list will continue to evolve, but needless to say, I have plenty of ideas!

I also want to continue in some Fitbit goals, and want to walk more-my very ambitious goal is to walk an extra 300 miles this year.  We will see how that goes!  And of course, I would like to continue with my weight loss goals as well.

So, there are some of my goals, and now I am going to finish this post with some of my favorites from 2012!

Top 5 Favorite Products:

1. Studio Calico Wood Veneer-I use them ALL the time-just got these for Christmas and can’t wait to put them to use!

3. Project Life-this is such a great way to document my year, and the kids (ESPECIALLY The Weebo) love looking through and seeing all the things they have done.  See my favorite Project Life post here.

4. Washi tape-this was definitely a year I got into washi-so flexible and pretty-great for cards, PL, sealing envelopes, really anything!  Here is my latest washi aquisition from Doodlebug:

5. And finally-Twine.  I used it constantly on my cards in 2012.  I love the bright colors from The Twinery especially, but my very favorite right now is Peppermint from Divine Twine:

Top 5 Favorite Places to Shop:

1.  I have been looking for a new online scrappy place to shop, and I found it-Paper Issues.  Love the products, the prices, and the service!  Oh, and did I mention orders arrive SUPER fast?????

2. Amazon-I have shopped here in the past, but last year, I realized just how much I could get through Amazon and have it shipped right to my door.  And, now that I do Swagbucks (an online site where you can earn gift cards), I can shop for presents for my friends and family for free-sounds good to me!

3. Archivers-I have always loved Archivers-even though I like to shop online, there is nothing like being able to go and look at something in person.  I love to go and wander around to at least look at the new stuff a couple of times a month.

4. Bananafish Studio-great products-even if they are hard to get a hold of some times-they are so popular!!!

5.  AC Digitals-this online site for all things digital American Crafts (and its brands) just opened at the end of the year, but I am pretty sure they will be a place I spend a little money at.  So many great products all in one place-some of which I never got my hands on in really life, and now I can at least print them digitally-yay!

1.  Unfortunately, my very favorite is one I created for my LSS that hasn’t been revealed there yet, so I can’t post it here.  I made a REALLY pretty project with a shadow box and Echo Park paper-LOVE it!!!  Sorry for the tease!  🙂

2. I loved this piece I made for my guest designing gig at fortheluvofart.com:
