Practical Scrappers Inspired By Challenge

29 Feb

Happy Leap Day!  🙂

Today at Practical Scrappers, we are sharing projects where we were inspired by others.  I chose this amazing mini book by Amy Tan:

You can check out all of her instructions (there is even a video) here: http://amytangerine.blogspot.com/2012/01/tutorial-anyone.html

Here is mine:

One Thousand Gifts

Supplies: Journal, Fabrip, Astericks, Mr. Huey’s: Studio Calico; Letters: American Crafts; Gray Paint: Jenni Bowlin; Gesso: Claudia Hellmuth

I did not deviate too much from Amy’s original project, but I did add color all the way across in thinner lines.  I wanted it to look like a bunch of colorful branches, and I think it really does look like that (it looks even cooler in person.)  I painted the wooden asterisks with a JB dauber, and added those with the words.

I absolutely LOVED this project-so fun and easy, and I will definitely be making more of these!!!  Make sure you check out everyone else’s Inspired By projects on the blog today!

Finally, just wanted to mention this is my last post as a DT member for Practical Scrappers (my term is up.)  I just wanted to thank them for including me on their team-I thoroughly enjoyed my time!  🙂

P.S. If you were wondering what One Thousand Gifts means, I have been reading a book called One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp with some of my girlfriends.  It is very good, and I highly recommend it!  Anyway, there is a challenge in the book (I won’t ruin the surprise!) to do a specific type of journaling, and this is my book for that.  🙂
