The Paper Variety Anniversary Blog Hop!

7 Sep

Welcome to The Paper Variety’s one year anniversary celebration! This week it’s all about our “favorite things!” TPV is hosting five daily challenges of our favorite things and awarding five amazing prizes to five lucky random winners.  We hope you’ll play along with us each day!!

We begin today with a fun blog hop and our first challenge which is being sponsored by My Favorite Things stamps. If you’ve reached me from Pam’s blog, you’re in the right place! If not, you’ll want to go back to The Paper Variety so you can begin in the right spot. Be sure to visit all twelve designers on this hop to be inspired by all their amazing creations using MFT stamps and to be entered into some fun blog candy giveaways!

Our first of 5 challenges is to create a paper project including stamps – clear stamps, rubber stamps, image stamps, sentiment stamps. My Favorite Things stamps is awarding a random challenge winner with a $25 gift voucher to their store!

You’ll have until Tuesday noon to enter your project here for a chance at the $25 MFT prize.

My Favorite Things also generously provided the entire TPV Design Team with stamps to use on our projects. Thank you SO much My Favorite Things!

Here is my project:

Congratulations Card

Supplies: MFT digital stamp; Patterned Paper: Studio Calico/Crate Paper; Frame: Studio Calico; Rubon: Pebbles; Inks: Distress Inks by Tim Holtz (Broken China, Dusty Concord, Peeled Paint); Mists by Studio Calico (Piglet, Lemonade, Pony); Stickles; Signo White Pen

I used the Happy Mother’s Day digital stamp.  I trimmed off the sentiment on the outside edge, then trimmed out the image as well.  I painted the image by “stamping” my ink pads and spraying my mists onto a flat plastic bag.  Then, using a paint brush and a container of water, I dipped the brush into water, then the color, and painted in my image.  I added Stickles to the flowers to give them a little added sparkle.  Then I mounted the image on dimensional adhesive in the middle, and attached the edges to the frame.

I love this image because even though it is a Mother’s Day stamp, it is extremely versatile and can be used for just about anything-welcome to your new home, congrats on a new job, etc.  This was my first attempt at using a digital stamp, and it was a lot of fun-I hope you will consider giving it a try!

Before you go on to the next hop stop, I have some blog candy to giveaway!  My candy includes: two stamps from Unity Stamp Company, American Crafts Remarks alphabet stickers, 5 Things Envelopes from Little Yellow Bicycle, Sei cardstock stickers, SRM stickers (not pictured), and Websters Pages stickers and fabric ribbons.

To be eligible for this giveaway, please subscribe to my blog (on the right-hand side of my blog under Email Subscription), and answer this question: what kind of adhesive do you use, and why?  I am always on the look out for new kinds of adhesive, and would love to hear your favorites!  I will draw a winner next Tuesday.

You don’t have to enter a project at TPV to win my blog candy. My giveaway is just for fun. I encourage you to enter a project though-then you will have a chance to win some yummy My Favorite Things for yourself!!!  🙂

Dont forget, there will be other challenges and prizes daily until Sunday at TPV inspiring you to use your favorite things! There’s also a giveaway on the TPV Facebook page so don’t miss that! Join in the fun! 🙂

Now hop on over to Sue’s blog to see her beautiful project created with MFT stamps!

Have a great day, and have fun hopping!!!  🙂

Cute card! I use Tombow permanent mono adhesive, like Stampin’ Up!’s SNAIL only cheaper in bulk. I am pretty happy with it. 🙂

Did not see a “Follow” option at top or side of your blog. Did see email option but prefer other way to follow. So if you let me know how to follow I’ll do so. My fav adhesive use to be using mounting squares (I know I was in the dark ages) and my best friend got me to using the Scotch Advanced Tape Glider ATG which I got for 50% off at Michaels. I also use Michaels Recollections Mounting Tape that is narrow & Zig 2 Way glue pen.

  11. jennybean September 7, 2011 at 10:31 AM #

I love the coloring on your card!! I usually use the elmer’s tape runner since I can get it at walmart and I’m there 2-3 times a week!

  17. Jackie September 7, 2011 at 1:06 PM #

I love how you cut it out! Perfect!

  18. Barbara Greenberg September 7, 2011 at 3:06 PM #

Such a great card. I love the dimension to it.

  19. Nubia September 7, 2011 at 3:36 PM #

Favorite adhesive?! That’s a tough one because it really depends on what I’m using it on. For large pieces of paper…I use scotch double sided tape. It’s cheap and acid free. For detailed, tiny items, I’ll use the 2 way glue from ZIP or glue dots. I also love that red lined tape – the super tacky stuff – for projects that require a little extra force.

  20. Gaby Cruz September 7, 2011 at 4:03 PM #

Your super cute card, very good! And I think I use a lot the silicon and the tape folds, I feel are very well bonded with these adhesives my projects: D

  21. Kelly Massman September 7, 2011 at 4:45 PM #

I’m subscribed and I don’t really have a favorite adhesive. I like different brands for different things. For example, I love Tombow’s metal liquid glue, Glue Dots, Helmar’s zap dots (not clear though)! Thanks!

  22. jan September 7, 2011 at 5:59 PM #

  24. Anna Petitt September 7, 2011 at 7:19 PM #

Love that card! So cute! Currently using The Craft Collection Stamp Runner adhesive! It was a gift and it’s been working out just fine! Love it! Really it’s the only thing I’ve tried besides your all purpose glue stick and photo squares! 🙂

  25. Alanna N September 7, 2011 at 8:53 PM #

Love your card!! Such a versatile stamp! I am a new follower 🙂 I didn’t subscribe via email, but your updates come up in my blogger dashboard 🙂

I use xpress double sided tape (3, 6 and 12mm) and I use a variety of foam tapes (xpress, scotch, kaisercraft…). I’m also loving glue dots. I use helmar quick dry 450 as well and I’ve recently discovered how handy my hot glue gun is! I’m in Australia, so we don’t have a lot of the same products as you in America, but basically, I use whatever I have on hand!

  26. alisha September 7, 2011 at 9:54 PM #

I use Scotch double stick tape in the yellow package, i put it in a reg tape dispenser and love it. Great hop and cute card. thanks for the chance to win.

Hi Rachel, I love how you framed the image on your card 🙂
Adhesives – I use different ones for different jobs. I love Pritt Power Gel for sticking almost anything, double sided tape (usually Xpress-It) for most scrapbooking papers and photos, glue dots for fiddly things, and Scrap It foam dots to add dimension. Oh, I also love Mod Podge for decoupage-projects and finishing touches.

Lovely card! I love the dimension you added 😀
i use mainly all purpose glue because here in my country is really hard to find scrapbooking adhesives, but just last week I bought through ebay some “official” glue dots and glue pen… I’m getting more sophisticated, haha!
    Greetings from Chile! ❤

pretty card – nice bright colours.

as for your question – for the majority of my cards are made using double sided tape. i do use other adhesives such as Anita’s tacky glue for adding paper flowers and gems but mostly the DST.

I love ad-tec adhesive rollers. They have them at M’s but they are in the adhesive aisle–not near the scrapbook stuff. I find that it really holds my things together. Of course I also like zip-dry, glossy accents and many others for different purposes.
